Dutch Stew

Ingrediënts: 1/4 cup margarine or butter. 2 pounds braising meat, sliced 1/2 inch large chunks. 2 cups cold water. 3 pounds carrots, diced. 3 medium onions, diced. 3 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered. 1 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon pepper. 1 or 2 smoked sausages.
Recipe: Heat the fat in a large pan until brown. Sear the meat on both sides. Add water to just cover the meat and simmer. Cover and simmer for approximately one hour. Add carrots, onions and potatoes. Add salt and pepper. Cover and let it simmer for approx an hour. Add the smoked sausage on top durin the last 15 minutes. Remove the meat and vegetables. Keep the liquid to make the gravy. Mash the vegetables. Serve on plates with meat and sausage slices on top. Combine with gravy.
